Clarify your goals and target colleges: Discuss the student’s academic aspirations and desired fashion programs. Identify the specific requirements and expectations of the schools the student wishes to apply to. 2. Assess the student’s current skills, interests, and strengths Review existing sketches, projects, or partial portfolios (if any). Identify the student’s unique style, areas of interest, and skill level. Highlight opportunities for growth and improvement to strengthen the portfolio. 3. Develop a customized portfolio plan Create a step-by-step roadmap tailored to the student’s goals and timeline. Recommend projects, exercises, and skill-building activities to build a compelling portfolio. Set milestones for portfolio development, from initial concept sketches to finished garments. 4. Provide guidance on materials and presentation Advise on how to document and present work effectively for college submissions. Suggest ways to incorporate both technical skills and creative concepts to make the portfolio stand out. This session is ideal for students who want a clear, personalized roadmap to build a strong, college-ready fashion design portfolio.
