Chloe Wu, Ph.D.
Founder & Lead Instructor
Chloe Wu, Ph.D., is a fashion design educator and the founder of WHYFashion Studio. She earned her Ph.D. in Apparel Design and Engineering from Donghua University, one of China’s leading institutions in fashion, textiles, and apparel education.
With over 20 years of experience in fashion education and research, Chloe has taught university-level courses in Fashion Design, Pattern Making, Draping, Apparel Construction, Textile Science, Sewing Technology, and Product Development. She has also authored professional textbooks, published research in leading academic journals, holds patents in apparel technology, and was a visiting scholar at UC Davis.
Today, Chloe brings her university teaching experience and professional expertise to WHYFashion Studio, helping young designers develop creative thinking, technical skills, original projects, and confidence.
Her students have received recognition in national fashion and art competitions, participated in exhibitions and fashion shows, and successfully developed portfolios for college applications. Students have been accepted into fashion and design programs and have received college scholarships.
Chloe’s mission is to give young designers a professional and supportive environment to explore their creativity, develop real-world fashion skills, and begin their own fashion journey.

Education thrives on mentorship. We maintain intentionally small class sizes to guarantee individualized instruction. Our atelier-style environment ensures every student receives focused critique and encouragement.
Students learn through the full fashion process—from design and sewing to garment construction, portfolio development, and runway presentation—while gaining real-world experience through fashion shows, exhibitions, and competitions
